What are the benefits of using a teleprompter?

A teleprompter can be a valuable tool in a presenter’s toolbox, but when used as a fallback in lieu of due diligence to craft a well prepared presentation, then a teleprompter is unfortunately turned into a “reader,” and you automatically begin to channel Will Ferrell in Anchorman.

The teleprompter is as useful as you allow it to be. The less familiar you are with your presentation, the more you force the teleprompter to jeopardize a natural delivery. When used as intended to simply "prompt" you, because of proper rehearsal due diligence, then you realize their value. Only then can you relax, not worry about stage block, and truly focus on connecting with your audience.

What is PowerPrompt? (Note Pages)

PowerPrompt is quickly becoming a preferred prompting technique for corporate events. Full prose or script works well for awards programs that warrant the use of presidential teleprompters, but any time a presenter prefers to use downstage monitors, PowerPrompt note pages can be a vital tool. Reading a full script from monitors that force a presenter’s eyeline to the floor obviously creates a disconnect between presenter and audience. PowerPrompt allows a presenter to quickly glance at their next note rather than surfing through scrolling text. Each note page advances simultaneously with that speaker’s corresponding slide.

PowerPrompt also prevents “closed captioning” of a speech. A presenter’s slide presentation should be a creative compliment to their message, not the message itself for the audience to read along. I often hear speech coaches telling clients they don't need a prompter, so instead, they have presenters put their notes on their slides to keep them on track. Hmmm, guess they still do need to be “prompted.” Free up your graphic design team to truly “design” and move your notes off the IMAG screen and into PowerPrompt.

Why should I hire an operator vs renting equipment?

Peace of mind! It's as simple as that. No learning curve, no equipment compatibility concerns, and no downtime dealing with either. Trained operators have instincts and skills that will circumvent challenges before they even arise. We want your prompting experience to be flawless.

** If you are a professional teleprompter operator or have hired one who is in need of equipment, we’d be happy to refer you to our preferred rental partner to cover your needs.

What is a presidential teleprompter?

The lectern teleprompter was nicknamed “presidential” due to its first public use at the 1952 Presidential Inauguration. As seen in the pictures below, the flat panel monitors you see in front of the lectern, invert the presenter’s text which reflects into a “beamsplitter” (reflective glass) raised to the presenter’s height, keeping their eyeline level with the audience.

Single Presidential Prompters
A bit of a misnomer, the Single Presidential includes two monitors and beamsplitters placed at appropriate angles in front of the lectern allowing the presenter to encompass his entire audience with two reference points to view his script.

Dual Lectern Presidential Prompters
Includes – you got it – four monitors/beamsplitters – two per lectern.

What is an eyeline teleprompter?

Eyeline teleprompters are placed directly in front of a camera’s lens allowing the presenter to read his script while looking directly into the camera. Our Boland DayBrite high contrast prompters make sunlight glare a non-issue and can be attached to any jib, steadicam, or industry tripod. All eyeline prompters can quickly be adapted on set to “off camera” interview style prompters.

How much set up time is required?

This depends solely on how script-heavy your shoot or show is. Equipment load-in time for video shoots or conferences using a single lectern presidential is generally one hour if stage is set when we arrive.

What is script formatting and why is it needed?

Teleprompter software takes your existing file and condenses it to approximately 30 characters per line – making a sentence feel like a paragraph when read from a teleprompter. This is when your speaker gets the stereotypical “deer in the headlights” stare, trying to decipher proper context while text is scrolling. Formatting incorporates the appropriate attributes, punctuation and staging cues … enabling the presenter to immediately gauge context and add appropriate inflection. It’s vital that sufficient time be allotted for file formatting so your presenter can focus on delivery of their message, not deciphering what it actually says.

Formatting time generally takes twice the running time of the speech. (i.e. 15 minute speech requires 30 minutes of format time). Knowing the total running time of your content will help us gauge the preproduction formatting time required prior to rehearsals.

Do you offer Half days?

For video/film shoots, we sure do. We offer a half day rate for five hours or less on-site.
For conferences, we do not offer a half day rate.

What is your cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy goes into effect only if we receive a second request for production dates you are currently holding. Should that occur, we will extend first right of refusal.

If you would like to confirm dates for your production at that time, any future shift in dates, cancellation, or deletion of days within the booking will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee.

If no “first refusal” is required, cancellation or rescheduling of your production may happen at any time without penalty up to 24 hours prior to call time. Cancellation or rescheduling under 24 hours of our appointed work time will be subject to the 50% cancellation fee of the total project cost.
